Thoracoscopic procedures are classically performed using three small incisions to avoid a large painful incision. A new technique called “Uniportal VATS”, where the same thoracoscopic procedures are done using a single small incision with same outcomes and less pain, has been performed recently at Bellevue Medical Center. Dr Ziad Mansour, cardiothoracic surgeon, believes that this technique will be adopted as the standard surgical technique for chest procedures in selected cases.
